[MEMPHIS, TN, March 12, 2020] – Life Together, Inc. has been approved by the Shelby County Board of Commissioners to receive a $100,000.00 grant to commence its Final Escape Program. More than two years ago, Bishop David Allen Hall, Executive Director of Life Together and Pastor of Temple Church Of God In Christ, developed a renaissance project to revitalize the community where the historic church is located. As a longtime stakeholder in the South City area of Memphis, TN, Bishop Hall, and Life Together have provided a variety of community-based support services during the last three decades.
Final Escape, one of several programs initially proposed by Life Together, will be the cornerstone of the renaissance project. Final Escape is a mentoring program designed to equip ex-offenders to get out and stay out of prison. Participants will attend curriculum-based classes and will receive re-entry care services and referrals designed to revolutionize their lives and empower them to become productive citizens. With over 20 years of experience in prison ministry, Yvonne Williams, Program Director, and staff have the compassion and expertise to successfully implement Final Escape.
The program will be located in the Memphis Branch NAACP building at 588 Vance, Suite 200, 38126. Upon receipt of grant funds, renovations will begin to prepare the office space for occupancy. Community support is needed to realize this project. Monetary and in-kind donations will be greatly appreciated. Plans for the grand opening will be announced at a later date.
